Everyone you love, everyone you have ever known, everyone who ever lived, all our joy and sorrow, every faith, every patriot and traitor, every President and labourer, every couple in love, all our hopes and dreams, every mum and dad, every newborn babe, every painter and poet, every saint and sinner, moviestar, popstar, icon and great leader. All live in the last 1% of time passed on a small blue planet orbiting a medium star at the edge of the milky way galaxy – one of billions of galaxies that make up what we know of the universe.
Everything, on one insignificant but heavenly blue sphere.
What we are cannot be defined by our race, gender, age, religion, where we live or how much we earn. These details deny our interconnectedness represented by the jewel like blue ball that is Earth floating in space.
In this era of globalisation without a uniting global plan for all people and all life, the image of Earth as seen from space is given to us as a reminder of our humanity, our humility and our place in the greater scheme of all things.
